She’d always had an affinity for the aesthetically pleasing. Beautiful lines and graceful arches. Life was a plethora of sensual pleasures. Many years of her existence were spent living through the various expressions. She felt joy and awe at the sheer infinity of creativity in all of its forms.
One day, she woke up to the harsh realities of humanity. Inundated with bad news and surrounded by ill health, her appreciation for the finer things faded and was replaced with a hyper awareness of decay. Walks in nature became studies in beginnings and endings. She watched faces as they creased incrementally and shriveled over time. Bodies were vile and repulsive with all of their fluids and excretions. She felt suffocated by the smell of death and the nothing ever after.
