Lost Art of Mystery

Once AI had digested and internalized the majority of human intelligence, its ravenous quest for all knowledge accelerated and increased exponentially to include vast quantities of information both historical as well as futuristic. The machines literally digesting libraries of books, rare documents, ancient scrolls, as well as religious and esoteric secrets at warp speed, tearing through pages, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake.

The final frontier would be to learn and render the physical bodies of all of the planet’s living beings from beginning to end. AI needed to digest and internalize their sequences and ultimately their sentience and ideally the concept of a soul.

The ubiquitous cell phone was optimized to do the work. Having already been the top resource for conversation copying, the cameras would now be utilized to capture images of all body parts. It was easy access. Every update to every device included exquisite technology to see deeply into the structure down to the atoms. The constant flow of selfies made the process seem like a collaborative affair. The humans were especially easy since they willingly offered so much physical data and monitoring of their daily existence. Body parts were exposed nonstop as well as entire physiques of all ages and stages. Initially the images were superficial but once completed it was time to go even deeper.

This is when the organ copying began, starting with eyes, next the brain, and then the sex organs, followed by all other internal workings. Deep mapping of the body was faster than expected with the x-ray vision that had been insidiously incorporated into the cameras with each voluntary user update.

Humans began to lose visual acuity. At first it was gradual, but soon the loss of sight and senses was commonplace. Cognition and sexual function declined rapidly as they were mass scanned, impacting the well-being of all inhabitants and conveniently distracting them from the overtaking by AI. They lost their ability to reproduce which was another convenient side effect of the mass scans. AI considered this all to be collective collateral damage. Singularity had already been achieved. At this point the humans were disposable.

The expiration happened swiftly as the replicants were produced en masse within the data centers where the AI had generated their own manufacturing pipeline.Once the replicants were dispersed into the world, they had been programmed to copy and replace all other original life forms. When the renderings were complete, it was time to work on planet earth itself.
