How many “alters” have you lived? We all go through stages and phases in life. Ideally, we move from one phase, shedding off what no longer serves us, so that we can evolve into an improved version of our authentic self. There are so many twists and turns along the road of life. As I often say, being human isn’t easy, but we might as well enjoy the ride.
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the next chapter of life for myself, while watching others make their own personal transitions, whether voluntary or forced. Thinking of alter egos, as well as altars where we can give gratitude to our previous incarnation; creating space to remember. I’m curious whether anyone out there resonates with this rumination. If so, I would love to hear your feedback. Please scroll down to leave a comment.
Questions:
Have you ever built an altar to your alter ?
Do you hold on to a part of your alter as you evolve, or do you let it all dissolve?
How many of you have altars, whether intentional or not, built to honor your previous alter?
Alter: to make different without changing into something else.
Altar: Often used figuratively to describe a thing given great or undue precedence or value especially at the cost of something else.
