All’s well that ends well.

While clearing out the basement of our mother’s house, I came across an index card with the inscription, “All’s well that ends well”. It was found wedged behind an old broken rusted bird feeder and a small well worn cardboard labeled “holiday ornaments”.

The paper freckled with dark moldy dots lead me to believe it had been there for years. I wonder what she was thinking when she put that note there. Why did she put it there? Was it accidental? Or intentional. It was about to get thrown away, when I decided to keep it as a reminder of something, even though I’m not sure what that something is.

“All’s well that ends well” is an idiom and the title of a Shakespearean play. The meaning, is that a positive outcome happy ending makes up for any previous difficulties, problems, or hardships encountered along the way.”
